Volleyball Recap: Gainesville Falls Short of Archbishop Mccarthy in the Playoffs

Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Gainesville couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks on Friday. The Hurricanes' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Archbishop McCarthy scored at least 20 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-22, 21-25, 25-20.

Charlotte Judge and Addyson Hauptman certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Judge had 30 assists and four digs, while Hauptman had 15 digs and one assist. Judge has been hot for a while, having posted 12 or more assists the last 36 times she's played.

Gainesville's loss dropped their record down to 20-9. As for Archbishop McCarthy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 19 of their last 20 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 28-3 record this season.
