Brianna Vick put in work while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Vick wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Payton Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, St. Joseph waltzed into their match on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by an 8-0 margin over the Barons. The Flyers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 games by six runs or more this season.
Not much got past Shayne Meismer, who gave up just a hit and racked up 15 Ks to keep Saint Mary's Hall off the board. That's the fewest hits Meismer has allowed since back in February.
On the hitting side, St. Joseph let Gianna Morris and Avery Grimsinger run wild. Morris scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Grimsinger went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Arianny Handy also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
St. Joseph kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in four consecutive contests.
San Antonio Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for St. Joseph, their record now sits at 15-4.
Thursday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. San Antonio Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .337. However, it's not like St. Joseph struggles in that department as they've averaged .419. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
