Baseball Recap: Jackson's Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Three

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Jackson ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-6 win over the Monroe Bearcats. Winning may never get old, but the Timberwolves sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Austin Halvorson and Quinten Johns made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Halvorson pitched 4.2 innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Meanwhile, Johns tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. What's more, Halvorson posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. At the plate, Halvorson scored a run while going 1-for-4, while Johns scored a run while going 2-for-3.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ashton Bergman, who scored a run while going 2-for-5.

Jackson pushed their record up to 7-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Monroe, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7.

Looking ahead, Jackson will be playing at home against Stanwood at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Monroe, they are taking a road trip to take on Edmonds-Woodway at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 2.7 runs per game this season, so the Bearcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
