Basketball Recap: Friday's Victory Is Starkville Academy's Seventh in Last Nine Outings

Starkville Academy lost to Heritage Academy back in January of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Friday. The Starkville Academy Volunteers blew past the Heritage Academy Patriots 52-30. Given the Volunteers' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 57th, while the Patriots are ranked 239th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Starkville Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raylee Jones led the charge by dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Sara Stokes McReynolds was another key player, putting up 16 points.

Starkville Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for Heritage Academy, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Starkville Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 52-41 victory against Greenville Christian on the 11th. As for Heritage Academy, they will challenge Rossville Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
