Baseball Game Preview: Martinsville Artesians vs. Perry Meridian Falcons

The Martinsville Artesians will take on the Perry Meridian Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 18 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Martinsville and three for Perry Meridian.

Martinsville lost 11-1 to Decatur Central on Monday.

Meanwhile, Perry Meridian didn't have quite enough to beat Whiteland on Thursday and fell 7-6. That's two games in a row now that the Falcons have lost by just one run.

Aiden Kerr put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and one double.

In other pitching news, Jackson McDaniel was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up four earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Ethan Neffle made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Brayden Hurst, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.

Martinsville's defeat dropped their record down to 0-17. As for Perry Meridian, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
