Basketball Recap: Wayne Takes a Loss

Wayne came up into this matchup off a tough 25-point defeat last Monday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the Lakeview Vikings by a score of 43-40 on Thursday. The Blue Devils were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Vikings apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Wayne saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Addison Frank went 6 of 10 en route to 16 points. Those 16 points set a new season-high mark for Frank. Another player making a difference was Haley Kramer, who posted 12 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Wayne dropped their record down to 4-6 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Lakeview, their victory bumped their record up to 3-5.

Wayne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-35 win against Douglas County West on the 4th. As for Lakeview, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 45-28 defeat against Clarkson/Leigh on the 3rd.
