Softball Recap: Somerville's Win Ends Five-Game Losing Streak on the Road

The third road match was the charm for Somerville, as they earned their first road win of the season. Everything went their way against the Schulenburg Shorthorns on Saturday as the Somerville Yeguas made off with a 12-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Yeguas, who have now won five contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Aubrey Flencher made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-low in walks (zero). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-1. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Kylie Jo Neuendorff was excellent, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Karys Ellis was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases.

Somerville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .789. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Somerville's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 7-6. As for Schulenburg, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-8-1.

Coming up, Somerville will face off against Burton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Burton will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Somerville surely won't give up without a fight. As for Schulenburg, they will take on Luling in a tournament on Saturday.
