Volleyball Game Preview: Newton Eagles vs. Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg

The Newton Eagles will head out to take on Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Newton is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.

Newton's tournament run continued when they took on Edwards County on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Lions by a score of 2-1. While the Eagles didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Lions 25-21 in the first set.

Newton started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The final score came out to 21-25, 27-25, 15-8.

Meanwhile, Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg was able to grind out a solid win over Neoga on Friday, taking the game 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg took both sets by at least 11 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-14, 25-14.

Newton's loss dropped their record down to 15-14. As for Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg, their victory bumped their record up to 22-9.

Newton was able to grind out a solid win over Windsor/Stewardson-Strasburg in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
