Preview: Arlington Heights Yellowjackets vs. Wyatt Chaparrals
The Arlington Heights Yellowjackets will head out on the road to take on the Wyatt Chaparrals at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Arlington Heights entered their tilt with Southwest with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Arlington Heights simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Southwest 69-21 on the road. Given Arlington Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 476th, while Southwest is ranked 1250th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wyatt posted their biggest win since December 15, 2023 on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 56-35 margin over North Side. Wyatt pushed the score to 45-21 by the end of the third, a deficit North Side cut but never quite recovered from.
It was another big night for Cynaa Weathers, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Zyniesha Horner, who scored ten points along with six assists and four steals.
Arlington Heights' win was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.8 points per game. As for Wyatt, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a massive bump to their 15-10 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Arlington Heights against Wyatt in their previous matchup on January 2nd as the team secured a 51-11 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Arlington Heights since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
