Baseball Recap: Shawano Community Gets the Win

Fans were treated to a battle of the Hawks on Monday. Shawano Community came out on top against Xavier by a score of 9-6. The victory continues a trend for Shawano Community in their matchups with Xavier: they've now won four in a row.

Ayden Bystol made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Bystol was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Pete Bruette, who went 2-for-4 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. He is becoming a predictor of Shawano Community's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-4 when he doesn't). Jerzy Brocker was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Shawano Community's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Xavier, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 5-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Shawano Community will challenge Menasha at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Xavier, they will head out to face off against Fox Valley Lutheran at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
