Basketball Game Preview: Cooper City Cowboys vs. Western Wildcats

Cooper City is 2-7 against Western since December of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Cooper City Cowboys will venture away from home to take on the Western Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Cooper City is headed into Thursday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a blow against Nova, falling 87-16. While losing is never fun, the Cowboys can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 493rd, while the Titans are ranked 25th).

Meanwhile, Western lost to Cardinal Gibbons on the road by a 52-36 margin on Tuesday. While the Wildcats didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Chiefs 16-12 in the first quarter.

Cooper City's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Western, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.

Cooper City was dealt a bruising 64-12 defeat at the hands of Western in their previous meeting back in February of 2024. Thankfully for Cooper City, Laurie Severe (who went 10 of 16 en route to 24 points and seven steals) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
