Baseball Recap: Springfield Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Father Ryan, Springfield was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Stuart Hornets 8-6.

The team relied heavily on Barrett Reynolds, who went 3-for-5 with three doubles and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jackson Goodfred was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Springfield kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive games.

Springfield now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Stuart, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-2 record.

Looking ahead, Springfield will take on Arlington in a tournament on Thursday. As for Stuart, they will head out on the road to take on Stonewall at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
