McMinnville is a perfect 10-0 against Century since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Grizzlies will face off against the Jaguars at 5:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
McMinnville took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 18-3 margin over Newberg. Considering the Grizzlies have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kaylee Dinger made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Dinger was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, MacKenzie Roberts looked comfortable as she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, McMinnville got a massive performance out of Laney Reed, who went 2-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Alex Bates also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
McMinnville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .618. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Newberg only posted an OBP of .312.
Meanwhile, Century got the win against Liberty on Friday by a conclusive 17-1. The Jaguars haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Like McMinnville, Century also got a great game from a two-way player: Michelle Katke. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Katke was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Avery Gonzalez was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. Hailey Kinney was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
McMinnville's record now sits at 14-4. As for Century, their record is now 8-10.
Everything went McMinnville's way against Century in their previous meeting two weeks ago, as McMinnville made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Grizzlies since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
