Softball Recap: Blake Bears vs. Minnehaha Academy Red Hawks

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Blake and Minnehaha Academy had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Bears took a 4-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Red Hawks on Friday. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-7 last Monday.

Laila Baham spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on nine hits.

On the hitting side, Blake saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lilah Mairose, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Blake's loss was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-8. As for Minnehaha Academy, they moved to 3-5 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blake will square off against Como Park at 4:00 p.m. on the 11th. As for Minnehaha Academy, they will take on Breck at 8:00 p.m. on Monday.
