Softball Recap: Kennedy Has No Trouble Against Royal

With a playoff win on the line, Kennedy rose to the challenge on Monday. Everything went their way against the Royal Highlanders as they made off with an 11-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Fighting Irish.

Emory Cheng made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in February. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with three RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Kennedy got a massive performance out of Katie Torrez, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Natalie Headley, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Kennedy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .432. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Royal only posted a batting average of .160.

Kennedy's record is now 12-15. As for Royal, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 13-12 record this season.

Kennedy will take on Aquinas at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Fighting Irish surely won't give up without a fight. Royal does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
