Basketball Recap: Wewahitchka Comes Up Short

Wewahitchka was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 40-28 to the Poplar Springs Atomics, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Poplar Springs to victory, but perhaps none more so than Reese Mattox, who posted nine points. Those nine points gave Mattox a new career-high. Trinity Sasser was another key player, putting up seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.

Wewahitchka's record now sits at 2-7. As for Poplar Springs, their win ended an 18-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-15.

Wewahitchka has already played their next matchup, a 60-17 defeat against Blountstown on the 14th. As for Poplar Springs, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 65-16 loss against Paxton on the 14th.
