Volleyball Recap: Emily Delarosa Key Part of Team Effort in Demons Win

Dexter's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They won by a set and slipped past the Eunice Cardinals 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Demons have posted since October 24, 2024.

Dexter wouldn't go down easily and took Eunice into a fifth set where they got it done with a seven-point win. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 22-25, 22-25, 25-18, 15-8.

Dexter got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Emily DeLaRosa out in front who had six kills, four digs, two blocks, and two aces. DeLaRosa is also on a roll when it comes to assists, as she's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 14 games she's played dating back to last season. Melody Duran was another key player, getting seven kills, five digs, four aces, and one block.

They weren't the only good servers: Dexter was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 17 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in August.

Dexter's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. As for Eunice, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.

Dexter has already played their next contest, a 3-1 victory against Lake Arthur on the 26th. As for Eunice, they are taking a road trip to face off against Mescalero Apache at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
