Baseball Recap: Fairmont Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Fairmont won the last time they faced Centerville and things went their way on Friday too. The Firebirds came out on top in a nail-biter against the Elks, sneaking past 3-2. The victory was nothing new for the Firebirds as they're now sitting on three straight.

Brayden Vance tossed a big game, striking out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted over his last four matchups.

On the hitting side, Fairmont's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tyler Mastro, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Fairmont pushed their record up to 9-5 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.2 runs on average over those games. As for Centerville, they moved to 7-2 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Fairmont will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Elks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
