Baseball Recap: Ringgold Snags Fourth Victory in Last Five Games

Ringgold won the last time they faced Laurel Highlands and things went their way on Monday too. The Rams' pitchers stepped up to hand the Mustangs a 4-0 shutout.

Anthony Koziel and Jimmy Nash dominated on the mound. Koziel pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits, while Nash pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Ringgold is 6-2 when Koziel allows two or fewer earned runs, but 2-7 otherwise.

At the plate, Ringgold saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alex Kolano, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Ringgold has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Laurel Highlands, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-12.

Ringgold will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Mustangs: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
