The Whitmire Wolverines will head out on the road to square off against the Newberry Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Whitmire is no doubt hoping to put an end to a ten-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
On Tuesday, everything went Whitmire's way against Calhoun Falls Charter as Whitmire made off with a 15-2 victory. The win was just what Whitmire needed coming off of a 14-4 defeat in their prior match.
Crue Keller was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Dalton Williams, who scored a run and stole three bases while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Newberry had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Fairfield Central by a score of 7-4 on Monday.
Liam Davenport spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and three unearned) runs on three hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't pitched less than five innings in three consecutive pitching appearances.
On the hitting side, Noah Mills and Bryce Satterwhite did most of the damage at the plate: Mills scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Satterwhite got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI and a double.
Whitmire's record now sits at 4-12. As for Newberry, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9-1.
