Baseball Recap: Port Chester Takes a Loss

Port Chester had lost five straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 5-12 to make it six. They came up short against the John Jay Patriots, falling 12-1. The Rams were not able to make up for their loss to the Patriots from their previous meeting back in May of 2024.

Port Chester saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Adam Castaneda, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.

As for John Jay, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-1. The result was nothing new for the Patriots, who have now won nine matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

On John Jay's side, Spencer Natoli looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Natoli has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, John Jay let Austin Seipp and Cayden Ferris run wild. Seipp went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base, while Ferris got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double. That's the most RBI Seipp has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Driscoll, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.

Coming up, Port Chester will welcome Mount Vernon at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.27 runs per game on average), something the Rams will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for John Jay, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-1 victory against Fox Lane on the 10th.
