Football Recap: Lenoir City Comes Up Short

Lenoir City was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They took a blow against the Gibbs Eagles, falling 56-14. The Panthers were not able to make up for their defeat to the Eagles from their previous meeting back in October of 2020.

Despite the loss, Lenoir City still got an impressive performance from Trea Jones, who rushed for 178 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.9 yards per carry. With that strong performance, Jones is now averaging an impressive 102.2 rushing yards per game.

Lenoir City's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Gibbs, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Lenoir City will venture away from home to take on Rhea County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles will aim to continue their four-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last. As for Gibbs, they will head out on the road to challenge Anderson County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Mavericks will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Eagles surely won't give up without a fight.
