Recap: Nebraska Lutheran Knights vs. Hampton Hawks
The Nebraska Lutheran Knights won the last time they faced the Hampton Hawks, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Nebraska Lutheran strolled past Hampton with points to spare, taking the game 44-30. Given Nebraska Lutheran's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 108th, while Hampton is ranked 247th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Nebraska Lutheran found their leader in underclassman Luke Otte, who scored 16 points along with four steals. That's the first time this season that Otte scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Eldridge, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Hampton's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Dose, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Nebraska Lutheran and bumps their season record up to 7-2. As for Hampton, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.
Nebraska Lutheran will head out on the road to take on College View Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hampton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Cross County at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Cross County is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last six games.
