Volleyball Recap: Ridgeline Falls Despite Big Games from Matthew Hanson and Jentzen Budge

If Ridgeline was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Logan last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Ridgeline Riverhawks fell 3-1 to the Davis Darts on Thursday. While the Riverhawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Darts 25-17 in the first set.

Ridgeline started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 17-25, 25-14, 25-14, 25-19.

Despite the loss, Ridgeline had strong showings from Jentzen Budge, who had 12 digs, and Matthew Hanson, who had 13 digs and 12 kills. That's the most digs Hanson has posted over his last seven contests. Jason Cureton also deserves some recognition as he had his first blocks of the season.

Leading Davis to victory were Siona Faeamani and Chase Valentine. Faeamani had seven digs and three aces, while Valentine had ten kills and five digs. Valentine is crushing it when it comes to kills: he's had at least ten every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Brandon Sims, who had eight digs and three aces.

Ridgeline's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Davis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-3.

Coming up, Ridgeline will be playing at home against Bear River at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Davis, they are taking a road trip to square off against Weber at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
