Mohave Accelerated is 1-9 against Parker since March of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Patriots will venture away from home to challenge the Broncs at 3:45 p.m. Mohave Accelerated will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
15 must be Mohave Accelerated's lucky number: they beat Highland Prep West with that score not once but twice on Friday. The Patriots were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the HORNETS. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Cash Keller, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in February of 2024. Vince Garcia was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Parker, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Chino Valley 8-6. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Broncs as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Maddix Young made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Parker is 3-1 when Young allows one or fewer hits, but 1-6 otherwise. Young was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, Oscar Ortega was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Eddy Panuco, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Mohave Accelerated pushed their record up to 5-8 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Parker, their win was their first in the region, bumping their region record up to 1-4 and their overall record up to 4-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Wednesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mohave Accelerated has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.1 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Parker struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Mohave Accelerated couldn't quite finish off Parker in their previous matchup back in March and fell 8-6. Can the Patriots avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
