Baseball Game Preview: Teton Timberwolves vs. Sugar-Salem Diggers

Teton is 1-9 against Sugar-Salem since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Timberwolves will be playing at home against the Diggers at 4:00 p.m. Teton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.8 runs per game this season.

Snake River hit Teton with a four-run seventh inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Timberwolves fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4.

James Borg spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Luke Nelson was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last six times he's played. Sage Woolstenhulme was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Sugar-Salem fell victim to South Fremont and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They lost 8-0 to the Cougars. That's two games in a row now that the Diggers have lost by exactly eight runs.

Teton's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Sugar-Salem, their loss dropped their record down to 5-13.

Teton got the 'W' in their previous matchup last Thursday against Sugar-Salem by a conclusive 10-2 score. Do the Timberwolves have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Diggers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
