Arizona State-bound guard can't keep Mesa from falling, 96-82, in upset to Brophy College Prep.

Jahii Carson's final high school basketball game was spectacular, but equally frustrating.

The highly-ranked Mesa (Ariz.) senior point guard poured in 58 points Thursday night, but his team was upset by Brophy College Prep (Phoenix, Ariz.), 96-82, during the Class 5A-Division I state semifinals. Mesa had beaten Brophy twice during the regular season.

The Arizona State University signee drew his fifth foul on a charging call with 1:35 left and a technical was added when he threw the ball too hard to an official. The Arizona Republic reported that Mesa coach Shane Burcar tried to get an explanation, but was given a technical and ejected from the game.

The 5-foot-10, 170-pound Carson, who averaged 30.7 points and 3.6 assists this year, drilled 25-of-38 shots from the field and 7-of-9 from the free throw line. Frederick Gammage and James Harper helped offset his big night with 21 points apiece.
