Baseball Game Preview: Gateway Olympians vs. Overland Blazers

Gateway and Overland are an even 4-4 against one another since March of 2016, but likely not for long. The Olympians will face off against the Blazers at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gateway's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Overland's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Gateway is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Skyview just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 6-3 to the Wolverines.

Gateway saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Rubio, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. Rubio has become a key player for the Olympians: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-3 otherwise.

Mountain Range hit Overland with a nine-run fourth inning on Saturday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blazers lost 12-2 to the Mustangs. The Blazers have struggled against the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Gateway's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-4. As for Overland, they now have a losing record of 4-5.

Gateway beat Overland 11-7 in their previous matchup back in April of 2025. Will the Olympians repeat their success, or do the Blazers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
