Basketball Recap: Gainesville Christian Community Takes a Loss

Gainesville Christian Community was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 48-22 to the Cedar Key Sharks. The Warriors lost against the Sharks in their previous head to head back in December of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 40-35 score last time.

Despite the defeat, Gainesville Christian Community saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Dovon Anderson went 7 of 13 on his way to 16 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of ETHAN RAULERSON, who posted four points and ten rebounds.

Even though they lost, Gainesville Christian Community was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Gainesville Christian Community's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Cedar Key, their win ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-7.

Gainesville Christian Community won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Hart 2 Hart Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hart 2 Hart Academy will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Gainesville Christian Community surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cedar Key, they will be taking part in a tournament against Meadowbrook Academy at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
