Basketball Preview: Big Pine Warriors vs. Immanuel Christian Crusaders
The Big Pine Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Immanuel Christian Crusaders at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
Last Saturday, things could have been worse for Big Pine, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-38 loss to the Braves. Big Pine has struggled against the Braves recently, as their matchup on Saturday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Big Pine saw an underclassman step up: Noah Ericson scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Adam Miller, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, Immanuel Christian put the finishing touches on their sixth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They breezed by Owens Valley at home to the tune of 63-27. Immanuel Christian pushed the score to 54-22 by the end of the third, a deficit the Cubs had no chance of recovering from.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Immanuel Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Izaiah Galvez, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Galvez scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mathew Guevara, who scored eight points along with five assists and three steals.
Big Pine's defeat dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Immanuel Christian, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Big Pine might still be hurting after the 47-23 defeat they got from the Crusaders in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Big Pine avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
