Soccer Game Preview: James Irwin vs. Buena Vista

The James Irwin Jaguars are taking a road trip to challenge the Buena Vista Demons at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. James Irwin has given up an average of 2.7 goals per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It was a proper cat-fight when James Irwin duked it out with Colorado Springs Christian on Tuesday. The Jaguars lost 6-1 to the Lions. James Irwin haven't had much luck with Colorado Springs Christian recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buena Vista). Everything went their way against Ellicott on Tuesday as they made off with a 10-0 win. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for Buena Vista considering their one-goal performance the match before.

Buena Vista's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-1-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 29 goals over those four contests. As for James Irwin, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Everything went James Irwin's way against Buena Vista when the teams last played back in April of 2019, as James Irwin made off with a 4-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
