Soccer Recap: Escalon Takes a Loss

Escalon lost against Hilmar back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Escalon Cougars fell just short of the Hilmar Yellowjackets by a score of 1-0. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one goal.

Escalon's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 1-7-2. As for Hilmar, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3-2.

Escalon will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Rio Linda at 3:30 p.m. on December 30th. Escalon's last three matchups have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Hilmar will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Sonora at 5:45 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Sonora is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3.5 goals per game this season.
