Baseball Recap: Fountain Central Comes Up Short

Fountain Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 13-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Benton Central Bison. If the Mustangs were looking for revenge after losing 16-6 to the Bison when the teams met back in April of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Ryan Mitchell and Joan Cervantes did some serious damage despite the final result: Mitchell went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI, while Cervantes went 3-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. Ayden Batchelor was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Fountain Central's record is now 5-12. As for Benton Central, with the victory, they broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-14.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fountain Central will face off against Parke Heritage at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolves have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.05 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Benton Central, they will square off against Hamilton Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Huskies have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.5 runs per game on average), something the Bison will no doubt try to take advantage of.
