Basketball Game Preview: Woodruff Wolverines vs. Greer Middle College Blazers

The Woodruff Wolverines will venture away from home to square off against the Greer Middle College Blazers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Woodruff is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season.

Last Thursday, Woodruff earned a 54-42 win over Broome. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wolverines.

Woodruff got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Sadie Burnette out in front who posted 22 points and eight boards. Burnette has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kara West, who put up nine points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Meanwhile, Greer Middle College played a tough game on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by Chapman and fell 74-25. While losing is never fun, the Blazers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 256th, while the Panthers are ranked 118th).

Greer Middle College's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Woodruff, their win bumped their record up to 13-3.

Woodruff took their victory against Greer Middle College in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 by a conclusive 52-26. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodruff since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
