Baseball Recap: Kettering Captains vs. Seaholm Maples
Kettering had lost three straight on the road, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 5-13-1 to make it four. They lost 13-3 to the Seaholm Maples. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Maples this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 on Monday.
As for Seaholm, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-15-3. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
For Seaholm's part, Ian Evert made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Seaholm is 2-0-1 when Evert allows three or fewer hits, but 11-15-2 otherwise. Evert was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Liam McDonald was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Aaron Van De Mark was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
While Kettering had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
