Football Game Preview: Juab Wasps vs. Cedar Reds

Juab and Cedar are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2015, but not for long. The Wasps will challenge the Reds at 10:00 a.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Juab is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They managed a 26-20 victory over Grantsville. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wasps.

Jaden Heap produced another solid performance picking up 146 receiving yards and three TDs. Those 146 receiving yards gave him a new career-high.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Juab's defense and their 3.5 sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Heap, Carter Wilson, and Zach Stilson, who each picked up one sack apiece. Max Gardner got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Cedar blew past Ogden, posting a 49-14 win. The result was nothing new for the Reds, who have now won seven games by 21 points or more so far this season.

Juab better keep an eye on Everett Kelling. He was instrumental in Cedar's win, throwing for 221 yards and three touchdowns while completing 73.9% of his passes, and also rushing for 38 yards and one score. Slade Parsons was Kelling's top target, picking up 26 receiving yards.

Juab's record is now 9-3. As for Cedar, their record now sits at 11-0.

Juab came up short against Cedar when the teams last played back in October, falling 41-35. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Kelling, who rushed for 196 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 168 yards and one touchdown.
