Basketball Recap: Ocosta Takes a Loss

Ocosta played a tough game on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were outmatched by the Taholah Chitwhins and fell 66-26. The Wildcats were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-10.

Despite the loss, Ocosta saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Elly Mirante dropped a double-double on 12 points and 17 rebounds. Those 17 boards set a new season-high mark for Mirante.

Even though they lost, Ocosta smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in February of 2024.

Ocosta's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Taholah, their victory was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Ocosta has already played their next contest (against North Beach), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Taholah will host Willapa Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Taholah has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last five games.
