Softball Recap: Waltrip Extends Winning Streak to Five

Waltrip never let their opponents score on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over the Northside Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

Alyssa Gonzales was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Danielle Ward, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and three runs.

The win (which was Waltrip's fifth in a row) raised their record to 7-2-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Northside, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waltrip will face off against Galena Park at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Northside, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Worthing at 6:00 p.m. on April 1.
