Baseball Recap: Palisade Takes a Loss

Palisade was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 2-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Fruita Monument Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-1 last Tuesday.

Palisade saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Howard, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Palisade's loss dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Fruita Monument, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palisade will head out to square off against Grand Junction Central at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.75 runs per game on average), something the Bulldogs will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Fruita Monument, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Regis Jesuit at 4:15 p.m. on the 23rd.
