Softball Game Preview: Del Oro Golden Eagles vs. East Nicolaus Spartans

The Del Oro Golden Eagles will venture away from home to face off against the East Nicolaus Spartans at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Del Oro 2.1, East Nicolaus 0.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Del Oro is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of California's top teams: Oak Ridge, who was ranked sixth at the time (Del Oro was ranked fifth). Del Oro took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of Oak Ridge on Friday. The match marked the Golden Eagles' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Caelyn Campos made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. That double was her first of the season.

Meanwhile, East Nicolaus put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Marysville a 15-0 shutout. The contest marked the Spartans' most dominant win of the season so far.

Arii Denis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Makinze Massey was another key player, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3.

Having lost for the first time this season, Del Oro fell to 11-1. As for East Nicolaus, they pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.

Del Oro suffered a grim 6-0 defeat to East Nicolaus when the teams last played back in April of 2023. Can Del Oro avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
