Softball Recap: Peebles Indians vs. Northwest Mohawks

Peebles extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-8 in the process. They took a 5-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northwest Mohawks. If the Indians were looking for revenge after losing 4-1 to the Mohawks when the teams met back in March of 2016, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Kaelyn Musser spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

As for Northwest, their win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.4 runs over those games.

On Northwest's side, they also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Annika Carpenter gave up two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for Carpenter.

At the plate, Mollyann Runyon was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3.

Peebles wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 7-3 loss against Lynchburg-Clay on the 21st. As for Northwest, they have also already played their next match, a 16-12 defeat against Symmes Valley on the 21st.
