Softball Recap: Valley View Comes Up Short

Valley View blew Marion out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Tuesday Marion got their revenge. The Blazers fell just short of the Patriots by a score of 9-7. It was the first time this season that the Blazers let down their fans at home.

Mackenzie Whitlock stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Lacey French was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

Valley View's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 8-2. As for Marion, they pushed their record up to 9-6 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Valley View beat the Patriots by a score of 16-4 later that day.
