Softball Recap: Creswell Takes a Loss

Creswell extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping their season record down to 7-13 in the process. They fell 8-4 to the Elmira Falcons. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Falcons this season, with their most recent defeat being a 12-1 loss on Friday.

As for Elmira, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 16-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games.

For Elmira's part, Audrey Varozza spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up seven Ks. Varozza has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Morgan Hansen was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. Josey Robbins was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

Creswell does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Elmira, they will be playing at home against Amity at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
