Softball Game Preview: Nanih Waiya Warriors vs. Winona Tigers

The Nanih Waiya Warriors will challenge the Winona Tigers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.

Things were looking good for Nanih Waiya after they put the first points on the board on Monday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Lake by a score of 14-13. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Hornets recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.

Nanih Waiya got a massive performance out of Madelyn Vick, who scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances. That's the most runs Vick has posted since back in March of 2024. Adalynn Snow was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Winona challenged Calhoun City on Monday. Winona took a 15-12 hit to the loss column at the hands of Calhoun City.

Winona's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Nanih Waiya, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Nanih Waiya took their win against Winona when the teams last played back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 13-4. Does Nanih Waiya have another victory up their sleeve, or will Winona turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
