Basketball Recap: Simmons Beats Leland for Their Sixth Straight Victory

Simmons had won five straight games and Prentavis Madison did his part to make it six on Thursday. The Simmons Blue Devils walked away with a 66-53 win over the Leland Cubs thanks in part to Madison, who made all 9 shots he took racking up 25 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points.

Another player making a difference was Kenzavius Lundy, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten boards. Simmons is 4-1 when Lundy posts ten or more rebounds, but 4-13 otherwise.

Simmons' victory bumped their record up to 8-14. As for Leland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.

Simmons wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 70-66 win against South Delta on the 7th. As for Leland, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 61-34 loss against Shaw on the 7th.
