Recap: Murrieta Valley Nighthawks vs. Newport Harbor Sailors

With a playoff game on the line, the Murrieta Valley Nighthawks rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They skirted past the Sailors 63-61. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Murrieta Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brady Jones led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Collin Ingram, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and three steals.

Murrieta Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 19-10 record this season. As for Newport Harbor, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 22-7 record this season.

Murrieta Valley will head out on the road to square off against Chaminade at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Murrieta Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 18 contests. Newport Harbor does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
