Basketball Recap: Unalaska Takes a Loss

Unalaska lost against Unalakleet back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Unalaska Raiders fell 51-40 to the Unalakleet Wolfpack. While losing is never fun, the Raiders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 81st, while the Wolfpack are ranked tenth).

Unalaska has also been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. Unalakleet is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season.

Unalaska won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Cordova at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cordova will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Unalaska surely won't give up without a fight. As for Unalakleet, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll challenge Metlakatla at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Metlakatla has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 210 points over their last three games.
