Basketball Game Preview: Charleston Catholic Irish vs. Buffalo Bison

Charleston Catholic has gone 10-0 against Buffalo recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Charleston Catholic Irish will venture away from home to face off against the Buffalo Bison at 7:00 p.m. Charleston Catholic is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Last Saturday, Charleston Catholic was able to grind out a solid victory over Logan, taking the game 46-38.

Charleston Catholic can attribute much of their success to Molly Messer, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 19 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, and Ilyauna Evans, who went 5 for 10 on her way to 14 points and eight rebounds. Messer is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Charleston Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Buffalo strolled past Lincoln County with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 57-40.

Buffalo has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Charleston Catholic, their record is now 5-1.

Everything came up roses for Charleston Catholic against Buffalo in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the team secured a 69-37 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Charleston Catholic since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
