Baseball Recap: Harmon Drops Highest Score of Season Against Schlagle

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Harmon). They were the clear victors by a 30-1 margin over the Schlagle Stallions on Thursday. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hawks considering their two-run performance the match before.

Gibson Miller made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Harmon: the team is undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 5-12 otherwise. Miller was also big at the plate, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, four runs, and two RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Brandon Anfinson and Anthony Avalos did most of the damage at the plate: Anfinson got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and four runs, while Avalos went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those three hits gave Avalos a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Adrian Fernandez, who went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Harmon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .677. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Harmon's record now sits at 10-12. As for Schlagle, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.

Harmon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 15-0 defeat against Baldwin on the 12th. Schlagle has also already played their next game (against Sumner Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
