Southern Choctaw had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They never let the Marengo Panthers get on the board and left with a 16-0 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-3 last Monday.

Southern Choctaw's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-7-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Marengo, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Southern Choctaw beat the Panthers by a score of 22-4 later that day.
